The House Business Advisory Committee (HBAC) met on Monday at Parliament House in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani to consult on legislative business scheduled for the Senate’s 359th session.
During the HBAC meeting, members conducted a detailed review of items slated for consideration, examined the agenda for upcoming sittings and evaluated the progress of pending bills and other legislative measures. The committee agreed to include debates on significant national and international matters as part of the session agenda.
HBAC decided that the current Senate session is likely to continue until March 3, 2026, allowing additional time for thorough scrutiny of proposed laws and related parliamentary business. Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider provided the committee with a comprehensive briefing on the legislative matters expected to be addressed during the session.
Participants in the meeting included Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Senator Raja Nasir Abbas, Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Manzoor Ahmad, Senator Haji Hidayatullah Khan, Senator Kamran Murtaza, Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. The committee’s deliberations were aimed at ensuring an orderly timetable for the remaining business of the Senate and effective consideration of legislative priorities.
