Islamabad, November 26, 2025 — The Higher Education Commission has initiated a comprehensive NRPU review to strengthen oversight of university research projects and address long-standing procedural bottlenecks.
Under the leadership of Advisor (R&ID) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Nasir and Director Mr. Nauman Ahmad Khan, the NRPU section has overhauled its review mechanism to promote transparency, efficiency and effectiveness across all stages of project assessment and monitoring. This NRPU review aims to align evaluation practices with higher standards of research governance.
HEC organized its 1st Orientation Session for Reviewers on Wednesday to familiarise panel members with the updated procedures and compliance expectations. The session was chaired by the Advisor R&ID and featured valuable contributions from Ms. Noshaba Awais, while Syeda Mahmaz Batool, DO (R&ID) moderated discussions on evaluation standards and compliance strategies.
Panel members and chairs from universities across Pakistan attended and acknowledged the NRPU team’s efforts in implementing the reforms professionally. By ensuring stricter compliance from faculty regarding project execution and enhancing reviewer training, the NRPU review is expected to improve evaluation standards and help funded projects deliver more impactful outcomes for Pakistan’s academic and scientific community.
