Housing project fraudster Asim Aziz escapes police custody with alleged police collusion

Asim Aziz, who is accused of committing fraud in various housing projects, has reportedly escaped from police custody in twin cities. As per Sajid Butt of CTD Police, Airport Police have registered a case (186/32) against Asim Aziz under multiple sections of the law.

Although he was initially arrested by the Kohsar and Phalgran Police station SHOs under the Terrorism Act, he managed to escape from the police’s custody while in the jurisdiction of the Old Airport Police Station in Rawalpindi. The police officers involved allegedly did not resist his escape or seek help, despite the severity of his alleged crimes. According to sources,

Aziz reportedly offered the police involved a substantial bribe to facilitate his escape. The police later registered a case of the incident at the Old Airport Police Station to save their reputation. Aziz has previously been accused of fraud in four different cases registered by the Rawalpindi police regarding the Abdullah City project. Recently, he launched a new society called Avalon City, allegedly with the support of two influential political figures, and a new case has been filed against him. Islamabad IGP Dr Akbar Nasir Khan has stated that an investigation into the matter is ongoing, and those responsible will be brought to justice.
