Advocacy Seminar Mobilizing HPV Vaccination in Pakistan

An advocacy seminar was held to mobilize private health professionals in support of Pakistan’s first national HPV vaccination campaign, bringing government, international partners and private-sector stakeholders together to promote equitable access to vaccines for girls aged 9–14.

The event was organized by DOPASI Foundation under the leadership of the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI – CSO Unit) and the Expanded Programme on Immunization, with support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The seminar took place at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Hospital and focused on building private-sector engagement for the nationwide HPV initiative.

Senior officials and technical experts attended to underscore the campaign’s priorities and implementation needs. Leading the proceedings were Dr. Sofila Younas, Director General of the Federal Directorate of Immunization, and Dr. Abdul Majeed, Director of PAEC Hospital. Representatives from key partner organizations also participated, including Dr. Rozina Khalid from the World Health Organization, Dr. Saima Zubair, Secretary General of PRHPS, Huma Khawar of Mannion Daniels, Dr. Tabinda Zaffar of Oxford Policy Management, and Dr. Farhaj ud Din of DOPASI Foundation.

Discussions emphasized the critical role of private health professionals in expanding outreach, increasing public awareness, and ensuring equitable delivery of the HPV vaccine to girls aged 9–14. Participants concluded the seminar with a shared commitment to strengthen public-private partnerships and coordinate efforts to maximize coverage and access across Pakistan.
