The District Health Office Islamabad, in partnership with Jhpiego, held an orientation session to inform teachers from both public and private schools in Islamabad Capital Territory about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine and details of the upcoming HPV Vaccination Campaign. The initiative aims to increase awareness and prepare the community ahead of the vaccination drive planned for mid to late September 2025.
The session brought together representatives from the Federal Directorate of Education, Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority, and religious scholars. Participants discussed the critical importance of working together to promote the HPV vaccine, which is essential in preventing cervical cancer among young girls.
Officials from the District Health Office stressed that timely vaccination is a key measure to protect future generations from cervical cancer. They commended the active role of teachers, educational organizations, and religious leaders in helping to disseminate accurate health information to families and communities, which will be crucial for the campaign’s success.
