Dopasi Foundation has announced a renewed commitment to improving public health by advancing efforts to introduce and expand HPV vaccination coverage among girls in Islamabad. The foundation recently hosted representatives from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and MannionDaniels, holding a strategy meeting focused on the upcoming HPV vaccination campaign.

Key discussions during the meeting included ambitious goals to achieve 80 percent vaccination coverage for girls aged 9 to 14 in Islamabad. The partners are prioritizing outreach to out-of-school girls, those living in slum communities, as well as migrant and refugee populations, aiming to ensure equitable access to HPV immunization and protection against cervical cancer.

The stakeholders also agreed on the importance of engaging various segments of society including schools, teachers, parents, religious leaders, and local influencers to foster trust and raise awareness about the vaccine. Special emphasis was placed on launching an advocacy, media, and digital campaign to counter myths and address misconceptions about HPV vaccination.

The Dopasi Foundation reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with government bodies, partner organizations, and local communities to safeguard girls’ health. The campaign is positioned as a vital step toward preventing cervical cancer, promoting health equity, and empowering future generations of women. The organization expressed optimism that through collective action, cervical cancer can be significantly reduced, or even eliminated, in the years ahead.
