Four million girls in Sindh are set to receive protection against cervical cancer through a vaccination campaign launching this September. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Sindh Government and the World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan, alongside several partners, highlighting a significant milestone in public health for the region.

The campaign focuses on the administration of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which is proven to prevent the majority of cervical cancer cases. The Provincial Steering Committee, led by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho, is overseeing the campaign’s preparations to ensure all logistical and medical aspects are in place.

By joining forces with international and local organizations, Sindh aims to significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer for young girls, marking a proactive step in improving women’s health in the province. The initiative also sets a precedent for other regions in Pakistan to prioritize vaccination accessibility and cancer prevention strategies.
