The Health Services Academy (HSA), Pakistan’s leading public health institute, has achieved international acclaim as its students have been selected for the renowned United Nations Millennium Fellowship 2025. This accomplishment highlights HSA’s commitment to developing future leaders in health and sustainable development, and marks a moment of pride for both the institution and the nation.

The Millennium Fellowship, jointly conducted by the United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network, is a prestigious global leadership program that empowers undergraduate students to drive progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through impactful community projects. This year, the program received over 60,000 applications from more than 7,500 campuses worldwide. Only 290 campuses were chosen to host Millennium Fellows, and a little over 4,000 students were selected for the 2025 cohort, emphasizing the highly competitive nature of the fellowship.

HSA’s inclusion among the selected institutions reflects its strong international standing and the impactful work of its students in public health and sustainable development both in Pakistan and globally. The Academy’s students will collaborate with peers from around the world, designing and implementing projects aimed at advancing the SDGs, with particular focus on public health, community wellbeing, and health equity.

Congratulating the selected students, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA, expressed pride in their success, highlighting their leadership, innovation, and unwavering efforts to address major health and development challenges. He stated that being chosen as Millennium Fellows demonstrates HSA’s ongoing dedication to producing globally-minded citizens who will shape the future of healthcare and sustainable progress.

The repeated selection of HSA students for this honor underscores the Academy’s vision to prepare professionals who excel in research, practice, leadership, and social impact on an international scale. To celebrate, HSA will organize campus recognition ceremonies and participate in related online events, culminating in the Millennium Fellowship Graduation later in the year. The Academy plans to further expand its partnerships within the United Nations Academic Impact framework in the future.

The Health Services Academy, established in 1988 as Pakistan’s first public health degree-awarding institute, offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs including BS, MS, and PhD degrees. It serves as a center of excellence for research, policy, and education in public health, contributing to sustainable health development in Pakistan.
