The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) recently organized a pre-departure orientation in Islamabad for the new group of Pakistani fellows selected for the Hubert H. Humphrey Program. Nine mid-career professionals from different parts of the country attended the event as they prepared to embark on their yearlong journey to the United States.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, is designed to provide mid-career professionals with a chance to participate in non-degree academic study and gain practical experience through collaboration with American institutions. The goal is to help participants develop leadership skills and exchange expertise in their respective fields.
This year’s cohort represents a diverse group of professionals, with backgrounds in law and human rights, public health policy, substance abuse treatment, and economic development. During the orientation, Lisa Swenarski, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, and Dr. Peter Moran, Executive Director of USEFP, addressed the fellows. They discussed the program’s objectives and offered insights into adapting to life and work in the United States.
The orientation served as a stepping stone for the fellows as they begin an experience aimed at fostering professional growth and strengthening mutual understanding between Pakistan and the United States.
