A spiritually charged tribute event honoring Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala drew prominent poets, scholars, journalists, and social thinkers to Islamabad. The Majlis-e-Salaam, held at the Punjab Arts Council’s Conference Hall, was organized in collaboration by the Islamabad Crescent Lions Club, Qalam Qafila, and the Rawalpindi Arts Council, and continued late into the night, offering moving literary and intellectual reflections on the enduring legacy of Karbala.

Presided over by acclaimed poet and critic Dr. Nisar Turabi and graced by chief guest Dr. Farhat Abbas, the gathering showcased the poetic talents of figures such as Naseem Sahar, Manzar Naqvi, Rashida Maheen, and guest of honor Riffat Anjum. Senior journalist and poet Nayer Sarhadi skillfully guided the proceedings, ensuring a thoughtful and engaging program.

Key addresses by Ms. Sameera Raza, Acting President of the Islamabad Crescent Lions Club, and Syed Sabtain Raza Lodhi, noted social scientist and driving force behind the club, centered on the life, martyrdom, and profound sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his family. Speakers underscored that, in a world fraught with moral confusion and uncertainty, embracing the path of Hussain is vital for upholding truth, justice, and moral integrity.

The event featured evocative poetic performances by renowned literary figures including Prof. Tariq Hussain Shah Qadri, Syed Jamal Zaidi, Naeem Akram Qureshi, Ittifaq Butt, Rafiq Mughal, and Shehbaz Haider, among others. Their verses honored Karbala’s legacy and inspired deep spiritual reflection among attendees.

Beyond serving as a platform for distinguished literary expression, the gathering promoted unity, moral reform, and steadfastness to the values exemplified by the martyrs of Karbala—sacrifice, patience, and righteousness. Organizers and speakers called upon the community to remain guided by these timeless principles in the face of contemporary challenges.
