Independence Day Celebrations at PMAS-AAUR with National Pride

Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) marked the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan with a vibrant celebration, affirming national pride and unity within the university community. The event, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman and attended by faculty, staff, and students, emphasized the importance of patriotism, the nation’s enduring struggles, and the crucial role of education in shaping Pakistan’s future.

The celebrations began with a flag-hoisting ceremony overseen by Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Registrar Muhammad Aqeel Sultan, and other senior university officials. Special prayers were offered for peace, unity, and the continued prosperity of the country. Addressing attendees, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the day as a tribute to the sacrifices and resilience of the Pakistani people. He called on citizens, especially the youth, to contribute actively to the nation’s development.

Dr. Zaman paid special tribute to the armed forces for their steadfast defense of Pakistan, acknowledging their recent achievements in major operations, including Operation Banyan Marsus and Marka-e-Haq. He recognized the leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and honored the sacrifices of martyrs who laid down their lives for national security.

Additional activities featured a cake-cutting ceremony and tree plantation drives at both the main Rawalpindi campus and the university’s sub-campus in Attock, symbolizing growth, environmental stewardship, and national unity.

In his message to students, Dr. Zaman stressed the transformative power of education for nation-building and highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. He noted that PMAS-AAUR is equipped with modern educational resources to meet the evolving needs of its students.

The event concluded with the university community pledging to uphold the values of independence, dedicate themselves to national service, and continue striving for a prosperous future for Pakistan.
