International Day Against Nuclear Tests Promotes Global Peace

Kazakhstan has marked the International Day against Nuclear Tests by calling for a global commitment to peace and a complete ban on nuclear testing. The observance, initiated by Kazakhstan and recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, highlights the devastating impact nuclear explosions have had on the country and underscores the need to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of safeguarding future generations by strengthening peace and promoting international cooperation. He urged world leaders to work towards a total ban on nuclear tests, stating that peace and security are the fundamental values that unite humanity.

In conjunction with this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, and Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to nuclear disarmament and the enforcement of international treaties.
