IOM Pakistan and FIA conducted trainings on Victim Identification to strengthen response to human trafficking and migrant smuggling with support from Japan.

IOM Pakistan, with support from the Government of Japan, conducted two specialized trainings in Lahore and Gujranwala focused on Victim Identification, Screening & Referral for FIA officers and partner stakeholders.

The sessions, facilitated by Mr. Shafqat Jamal Durrani (FIA), brought together FIA personnel, local police, civil society representatives and academics to build a common understanding of victim identification methods and referral mechanisms.

Participants practised screening protocols and discussed coordinated approaches to protect people at risk, strengthening the capacity of front-line actors to identify victims and make timely referrals in potential human trafficking and migrant smuggling cases.

By reinforcing standardized procedures and collaboration between agencies, the trainings aim to create stronger, safer pathways for those affected, improving on-the-ground response and support for vulnerable individuals through better victim identification and referral.
