ISC Conference Advances Pakistan UK Parliamentary Cooperation

Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) and Adviser to the Chairman Senate, Ms. Misbah Khar, met with representatives of the British High Commission at Parliament House in Islamabad to brief them on the upcoming ISC Conference and to formally invite British parliamentary leaders to participate. The meeting also highlighted plans for a Curtain Raiser event ahead of the main conference.

During the discussion, Ms. Khar outlined the objectives of the ISC, emphasizing its goal to foster multilateral cooperation and encourage dialogue among regional partners. She highlighted the conference’s focus on mobilizing parliamentary engagement to address urgent global challenges such as the Palestine conflict and climate change. Ms. Khar noted that bringing together influential leaders could help redefine policy priorities and build consensus on issues that are critical to international peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The British High Commission delegation expressed appreciation for the invitation and reaffirmed the close ties between the United Kingdom and Pakistan, citing a history of bilateral cooperation. They welcomed the ISC initiative, recognizing it as a valuable opportunity to strengthen Pakistan–UK relations and to contribute to broader international discussions on security, peace, and climate resilience.

Both parties expressed a commitment to ongoing collaboration across diplomatic, parliamentary, and security sectors. The British delegation confirmed their interest in participating actively in the ISC and thanked the Senate officials for the briefing and invitation.
