CDA and STZA move to develop a Special Technology Zone on 141 acres in Islamabad to attract tech firms, offer incentives and create jobs.

A meeting at the Capital Development Authority headquarters was chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Executive Director Aamir Saleemi of the Special Technology Zones Authority and relevant CDA officers in attendance. The session focused on the proposed project to establish a Special Technology Zone in Islamabad and outlined steps to advance the initiative.

Officials were informed that 28 Special Technology Zones have been notified across the country and that 141 acres have been allocated for the Islamabad site. National and international companies and entrepreneurs associated with modern technology are expected to set up offices and production houses within the Special Technology Zone, strengthening Islamabad’s appeal to tech investors.

The master plan presented for the proposed site envisions a dedicated technology zone, a high-tech production area and complementary commercial and residential developments to support an integrated community. Authorities emphasised that special concessions in taxes and duties, together with facilitation measures, will be provided to attract high-tech companies to the Special Technology Zone.

Both sides agreed to form a joint working group between CDA and STZA to make the project feasible and operational at the earliest. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that a financially viable and sustainable model be prepared after reviewing the project’s financial aspects, underlining that the Special Technology Zone will play a key role in promoting technology, creating employment and establishing a technology hub in the federal capital. He reaffirmed CDA’s commitment to fully utilise STZA’s technical expertise to ensure the project’s success.
