Islamabad health authorities reported 24 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the city’s total to 554 cases so far this year. Sixteen patients required hospital admission, and the District Health Office said response teams have carried out extensive vector-control activities across affected neighborhoods.
The District Health Office (DHO) confirmed the 24 new infections and said 16 people were admitted to hospitals for treatment. To date, 554 dengue cases have been recorded in the city this year.
Most infections have been reported from rural parts of the district: 417 cases came from rural areas and 137 from urban neighborhoods, according to the DHO.
Response efforts have been completed for 505 of the 554 confirmed cases, the DHO said, indicating follow-up and containment measures are underway for the remaining cases.
Vector-control operations have been substantial. Teams have sprayed and fogged 17,176 houses in affected areas, and this month alone they eliminated 12,493 dengue larval hotspots. In total, the DHO reported 610,580 preventive and control activities have been carried out to combat the mosquito-borne outbreak.
