The District Health Office of Islamabad, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, is conducting intensified dengue sweep operations across high-risk neighborhoods and citywide. Teams are carrying out door-to-door surveillance, larval elimination, spraying, fogging and community awareness activities to curb the spread of dengue fever.
Field teams continue daily visits to homes and public areas to identify and remove mosquito breeding sites, conduct larvicidal treatments, and apply targeted insecticide spraying and fogging where needed. Community outreach efforts are being carried out alongside these operations to educate residents on preventive measures and early symptom recognition.
Entomologist Qasim Shajra inspected several locations in Union Council Bara Kahu to assess case investigation and response activities and to evaluate the performance of field teams. The visit aimed to identify gaps and improve the effectiveness of ongoing dengue-control measures.
The district administration has increased enforcement of public health rules, imposing heavy fines on those violating standard operating procedures and filing police reports against repeat offenders. Authorities are urging full cooperation from residents to ensure containment efforts succeed.
Residents are asked to adopt simple preventive practices: clean water-holding containers, tanks, plant pots and coolers daily to prevent mosquito breeding; wear long-sleeved clothing to reduce exposure to mosquito bites; use mosquito repellents such as sprays and lotions; sleep under mosquito nets and install screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.
Authorities stress that controlling dengue requires collective action. Residents are urged to follow precautionary measures, report potential breeding sites to health teams, and seek medical attention promptly if they experience symptoms consistent with dengue.
