Islamabad health authorities reported a rise in dengue cases and intensified vector-control operations across the city, while urging residents to maintain strict household hygiene to prevent further spread. In the latest update, 24 new infections were recorded, bringing the season’s confirmed total to 410, and officials said containment and treatment follow WHO protocols.

Of the 24 new cases, 16 were from rural areas and 8 from urban neighborhoods; 15 patients required hospital admission. The District Health Office said all confirmed cases this season have been managed in accordance with World Health Organization treatment and response guidelines.

Vector-control teams conducted targeted interventions around confirmed cases, carrying out residual spraying at the homes of 20 patients and surrounding areas. Fogging operations were performed at 101 locations to reduce adult mosquito populations, and teams reported eliminating 9,105 sites that tested positive for mosquito larvae.

Overall, authorities have completed 41,642 anti-dengue activities across Islamabad so far. The District Health Office and the Directorate of Health Services, CDA/MCI, said their integrated vector control teams are sustaining operations citywide, with added emphasis on high-risk neighborhoods and intensified special operations to accelerate control measures.

The district administration has also stepped up enforcement, imposing fines and initiating legal action against individuals and businesses found violating standard operating procedures designed to reduce mosquito breeding and human exposure.

Health officials appealed to the public to follow preventive measures at home: regularly clean water-holding containers, tanks and coolers, and eliminate standing water where mosquitoes can breed. Authorities emphasized that community cooperation is essential to curb transmission and protect public health.
