Islamabad Food Authority Seizes Massive Quantity of Donkey Meat Intended for Export

The Islamabad Food Authority has uncovered and seized a large quantity of donkey meat during a recent raid in the Tarnol area, raising serious concerns about food safety and illicit meat exports in the capital. The operation led to the confiscation of over 25 maunds of donkey meat and the discovery of more than 50 donkeys, marking one of the biggest actions of its kind in Islamabad to date.

According to Dr. Tahira Siddiq, Deputy Director of the Islamabad Food Authority, the raid was conducted following intelligence reports and is part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to safeguard public health by ensuring the supply of safe and lawful food in the city. The team, led by Dr. Siddiq, found significant evidence that the processed donkey meat was not only distributed locally but also exported abroad, indicating an organized criminal operation with international connections.

On-site, a foreign national was taken into custody and handed over to the police for further investigation. Authorities are actively probing the exact locations and extent to which the illicit meat was supplied within the city and overseas. Immediate legal action has been ordered against those involved, while the Food Authority’s team continues to dispose of the confiscated meat to prevent it from reaching consumers.

The director of the Islamabad Food Authority has emphasized the seriousness of the crime and ordered the prompt registration of cases against the suspects. The agency reiterated its dedication to maintaining food safety standards in Islamabad and assured the public of its relentless efforts to prevent the supply of unsafe or unlawful food products.
