Islamabad authorities are launching a comprehensive new security initiative that includes a door-to-door survey and the introduction of a user-friendly mobile application, Pak ID, to enhance the safety and well-being of city residents. The initiative aims to create a centralized database of citizens, streamlining effective delivery of public services and reinforcing law and order across both urban and rural areas of the capital.
The plan was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Chairman of the Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Key officials from various agencies, including the Islamabad Police, the Ministry of Interior, NADRA, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, and senior members of the CDA, attended the session.
NADRA representatives presented the new Pak ID app, which enables residents to easily register themselves and update their personal information from the comfort of their homes. The application features minimal data entry requirements and a simple process aimed at encouraging widespread participation. Alongside the app, authorities will conduct a door-to-door survey involving geo-tagging to accurately record each citizen’s location and other demographic details.
This extensive data collection effort will cover not only Islamabad’s urban areas but also rural neighborhoods and informal settlements. The resulting database is intended to assist with both current security and the future planning and implementation of development projects.
Chief Commissioner Randhawa emphasized that the Pak ID app should be fully user-friendly and integrated with other relevant digital platforms. The app’s automated data collection features are designed to speed up and improve the accuracy of information gathering, allowing citizens to register independently.
In addition to digital registration, the door-to-door survey will be carried out to gather information on all household members, tenants, relatives, and foreign nationals residing in the city. To ensure high-quality data collection, assistance will be sought from SUPARCO for capturing accurate imagery during the process.
An extensive public awareness campaign will accompany the rollout of the Pak ID app, encouraging widespread citizen participation. Officials believe these measures will not only enhance security across Islamabad but also improve the quality and reach of municipal services.
Chairman Randhawa reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging all available resources to ensure peace, security, and a safe environment for all residents of the capital.
