Islamabad Food Authority Seizes Unsafe Meat in Ongoing Crackdown
The Islamabad Food Authority has intensified its operations against the distribution of unsafe meat in the city, seizing 160 kilograms of unfit meat during an inspection on Golra Road. The meat safety team immediately disposed of the foul-smelling meat on site to prevent it from reaching consumers.
According to Dr. Tahira Siddique, the Deputy Director of the authority, the meat was being transported in a vehicle without the required slaughterhouse stamp, raising concerns about its source and safety. She also noted that the storage and transportation of the meat violated essential standard operating procedures, including proper temperature control.
Dr. Siddique emphasized the authority’s commitment to eradicating the supply of unsafe meat in Islamabad. She added that daily surprise inspections are being conducted by the meat safety team to ensure that only healthy and certified meat products are available to the public. The authority has vowed to make every possible effort to protect public health and maintain food safety standards in the city.
