Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, met with Adnan Ahmed, General Manager of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, at CDA headquarters to review progress on pipeline works in the city. Member Environment Asfandiyar Baloch and other relevant officers attended the meeting as both sides discussed immediate steps to restart installation in the older Sector G-6 and the Blue Area.
On instruction from the Managing Director of SNGPL, the General Manager updated CDA officials on ongoing replacement of dilapidated lines and the planned resumption of work in G-6 and the Blue Area. The agencies agreed to expedite activities so that the installation can be completed as quickly as possible, with minimal disruption to residents.
The SNGPL management described the initiative to replace ageing networks as a long overdue step that will reduce gas leakage and losses while improving supply reliability. Officials said these upgrades form part of broader measures to strengthen gas pressure and secure adequate supply for the coming winter.
Chairman CDA assured SNGPL of full cooperation and noted that the Authority’s Engineering and Environment wings have already issued the necessary NOCs to facilitate the work. He stressed the importance of completing the new pipeline installation before winter so Islamabad citizens do not face reduced gas supply during the cold months.
Mr Randhawa also directed SNGPL to expedite the gas connection for Gandhara Citizen Center in F-9 and to immediately halt supply to illegal constructions and unauthorized connections. The General Manager reiterated that SNGPL is implementing effective strategies to improve gas pressure across Islamabad and aims to finalise required measures ahead of the season.
Both CDA and SNGPL reiterated their commitment to close cooperation and coordinated action to ensure the successful replacement of Islamabad gas pipelines and uninterrupted service to residents.
