Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa personally supervised relief and recovery efforts by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), District Administration, and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) following heavy rainfall and hailstorm in Islamabad, leading prompt actions to clear debris, remove fallen trees, and restore smooth traffic flow throughout the city.
Following a recent deluge accompanied by hailstorms, Islamabad witnessed immediate joint relief operations coordinated by CDA Chairman, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Director General Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Randhawa conducted a direct inspection of several affected locations throughout Islamabad to assess the damage, oversee recovery measures, and ensure effective cooperation among all responsible agencies.
As soon as the heavy rainfall ceased, all CDA field teams, along with the District Administration and MCI personnel, were swiftly mobilized with clear directives to employ available resources and abilities to assist the citizens of Islamabad. Priority was given to urgently removing fallen trees, clearing debris, and eliminating obstructions on roads across the capital.
Under the Chairman’s directive, multi-departmental measures involving the CDA’s Emergency & Disaster Management Directorate, Sanitation Wing, Environment Wing, Building Control, Islamabad Water Agency, and Road and Maintenance Wing were immediately initiated. These coordinated actions facilitated rapid removal of debris and restored accessibility along major roads, significantly easing traffic congestion.
Furthermore, Chairman Randhawa directed teams to accelerate ongoing road cleaning and drainage activities, aiming to completely restore normal traffic conditions as soon as possible. Sanitation, Environment, and Engineering Wing personnel and machinery had begun early in their efforts, actively clearing blockages from urban drains, waterways, underpasses, and other susceptible areas.
Additionally, a specialized monitoring system was implemented to closely supervise drainage operations within low-lying city sectors, key roadways, and underpasses. This proactive measure helped mitigate flood impacts and further supported rapid post-rainstorm recovery.
Citizens expressed appreciation for the efficient, quick response and close monitoring efforts led personally by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, acknowledging the swift clearance of roads and effective measures that minimized disruption despite challenging weather conditions.
