The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has further enhanced its stakeholder engagement initiatives by conducting dedicated sessions to promote understanding and adoption of Islamic finance practices. These sessions, designed specifically for capital market stakeholders, focused primarily on Shariah-compliant brokerage services and capacity-building, in a continued effort to establish a more ethically sound and inclusive financial system in Pakistan.

In a targeted initiative aimed at stock brokers, the SECP organized an insightful session specifically tailored for members of the Pakistan Stock Brokers Association (PSBA). The event provided detailed insights into Shariah-compliant brokerage techniques, underlining the essential principles and practical aspects involved. The presence and active participation of the PSBA Chairman and Vice Chairman underscored the financial industry’s growing commitment and enthusiasm toward integrating Shariah-compliant practices into brokerage services.

Additionally, the SECP conducted a separate capacity-building workshop in Lahore for professionals from Capital Market Infrastructure Institutions (CMIIs). This initiative served to enhance the technical proficiency of institutional employees by emphasizing the regulatory frameworks and transactional procedures that underpin Islamic finance. Attendees participated in interactive discussions and received vital knowledge aimed at improving their ability to effectively supervise and execute Shariah-compliant financial transactions.

Both educational activities reflect the SECP’s continued resolve to deepen stakeholder engagement and enhance technical understanding within the sector. By aligning financial practices closely with Islamic ethical standards, the SECP seeks to promote transparency, inclusion, and ethical responsibility throughout Pakistan’s financial markets.
