Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), took part in the 13th World Peace Forum, held at Tsinghua University in Beijing in collaboration with the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Policy. The prominent international event, centred around the theme “Advancing Global Peace and Prosperity: Shared Responsibility, Benefit, and Achievement,” brought together high-ranking Chinese officials, renowned scholars, and foreign diplomats to discuss critical global and regional issues.
During a significant panel discussion entitled “South Asian Security and Order,” Ambassador Sohail Mahmood highlighted Pakistan’s perspective on emerging regional security dynamics and strategic developments. The panel included distinguished experts and practitioners from both South Asia and China, fostering dialogue and cooperation aimed at regional stability and lasting peace.
Aside from the panel discussion, Ambassador Mahmood engaged with media representatives at a press conference, where he addressed questions on several key topics. He commented extensively on current global geopolitical trends, analyzing their implications for regional order and stability in South Asia. Ambassador Mahmood also remarked on the future prospects of regional cooperation among South Asian nations and emphasized the positive role that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) can play in enhancing stability, connectivity, and mutual prosperity within the region.
Furthermore, Ambassador Mahmood elaborated on the enduring strength and significance of the Pakistan-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Underscoring its value as a cornerstone of regional cooperation initiatives, he reaffirmed the mutual commitment between Pakistan and China toward shared progress, peace, and prosperity.
