Federal Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui inaugurated a new IT laboratory at Islamabad Model College for Girls (VI–XII), G-11/1, as part of the Disruptive Education: Transforming Schools into Foundries of Emerging Tech project. The lab will support regular coursework and provide specialized training in modern technology fields, while the broader initiative has already established dozens of labs across the city and deployed Tech Fellows to deliver training.

The newly opened lab is equipped to serve classroom needs and to offer focused instruction in Python programming, JavaScript, DevOps, Blockchain and Web 3.0, AI-powered tools, e-commerce fundamentals, and data visualization. Its design aims to give students hands-on experience with technologies that are increasingly central to higher education and the job market.

Under the project, 30 Type-A labs outfitted with desktop computers and 106 Type-B labs equipped with Chromebooks have been set up in public schools. A cohort of 150 Tech Fellows has been engaged to provide training and support to students across these facilities, delivering curriculum and mentoring that emphasize practical ICT skills.

Dr. Siddiqui praised the Federal Directorate of Education, the college administration, and partner organizations including CMPak, LearnOBots, and IST for their roles in integrating technology-enabled learning into public sector schools. He affirmed the ministry’s continued commitment to strengthening IT and science education facilities across Islamabad.

The initiative aims to equip young people with 21st-century information and communication technology skills so they can participate effectively in the global knowledge economy. By combining upgraded infrastructure, specialized training, and on-site support, project organizers intend to create pathways from school-level learning to further study and employment in emerging tech fields.
