IUB Hosts First Anti Narcotics Awareness Seminar

IUB hosted its first anti-narcotics awareness seminar with ANF Bahawalpur on 27 Nov 2025 to educate students and strengthen campus drug prevention.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s Khawaja Fareed Campus held the first anti-narcotics awareness seminar on 27 November 2025, bringing together students, faculty and the Counter-Narcotics Force to raise awareness about drug abuse and prevention. The event emphasised anti-narcotics awareness through detailed briefings on narcotics control, health impacts and collaborative campus measures to curb substance misuse.

The seminar opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Memona Ameen, president of the Qirat & Naat Society, followed by a moving Naat by Hafiz Asad Hafeez, former general secretary of the Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society. Prof. Dr. Fiaz-ud-Din Ahmed, advisor to the IUB Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society, formally welcomed the guest and underlined the importance of sustained anti-narcotics awareness and the role of the university’s Anti-Narcotics Committee in protecting students.

Lt. Col. Nisar Ahmed Satti TI (M) of ANF Bahawalpur delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Counter Narcotics Force’s operations, highlighted major narcotics control case reports and outlined the harmful effects of narcotics on the human body. His presentation connected law enforcement experience with practical advice for students and campus stakeholders, reinforcing why anti-narcotics awareness is crucial for university communities across Pakistan.

Students from multiple departments participated actively, asking detailed questions that reflected strong interest in prevention strategies and rehabilitation pathways. The guest speaker commended student engagement and expressed a desire to continue collaborative programs with the society to sustain momentum on drug education and enforcement partnerships.

In closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Qaiser Jabeen, dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Medicines & Allied Health Sciences, thanked the guest speaker along with Prof. Dr. Fiaz-ud-Din and Hamid Rasool, president of the IUB Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society, for organising the seminar. Shields were presented to the guest speaker and the chief guest as a token of appreciation for their contribution to advancing anti-narcotics awareness at the university.

Faculty members and departmental in-charges including Mr. Qamar-ul-Zaman (DDSA, Khawaja Fareed Campus), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhtar (Professor of Pharmaceutics and Incharge, Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics), and Hafiz Muhammad Zubair joined the event, ensuring cross-departmental support for ongoing awareness efforts. The seminar highlighted the importance of coordinated action on campus and provided students with practical knowledge to recognise and respond to narcotics-related risks.
