IYCM UN Day change maker Barsha Rahman represented youth at North South University seminar on UN reform, accountability and Bangladesh's role in multilateralism.

On 23 October 2025 the International Youth Change Maker took part in the United Nations Day seminar titled Critical Review and Evaluation of UN Reform at North South University. The event was organised by the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance in collaboration with the H&H Foundation and UNA–Luton (UK), bringing academics, practitioners and civil society together to examine pathways for effective UN reform.

Barsha Rahman represented IYCM at the seminar, delivering a clear youth perspective on the need for institutional accountability and inclusive decision making. As an IYCM UN Day delegate she highlighted the importance of elevating young voices in multilateral forums and argued for mechanisms that ensure sustained youth participation in global governance conversations.

Distinguished participants offered extensive analysis on reform and peacebuilding. Speakers included Dr. David Cheesman, Dr. Nazia Khanum OBE, Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hussain, Prof. Imran Rahman, Dr. Mohammed Nuruzzaman, Dr. Saima Khan and Dr. Susan Vize, each sharing insights on accountability, operational reform and the UN’s role in advancing global peace.

The seminar placed special emphasis on Bangladesh’s contribution to multilateralism, underlining how national commitments to peacekeeping and diplomacy inform broader reform debates. IYCM’s participation reinforced the message that youth engagement is essential to shaping a fairer and more effective United Nations.

IYCM continues to support young changemakers who can translate seminar recommendations into action. The organisation said it will maintain dialogue with academic partners and international networks to ensure that the perspectives raised at the UN Day seminar feed into ongoing discussions on UN reform and regional cooperation.
