Ambassador Shuichi, speaking at the ceremony, expressed his hope that the donated books would deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations through increased knowledge about Japan. He highlighted the significance of cultural exchange and knowledge sharing as foundational elements in further enhancing connections between Japan and Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Khattak, Director of COMSATS University Islamabad Abbottabad Campus, warmly welcomed the donation. He sincerely thanked the Nippon Foundation and the Japanese Embassy, recognizing their generosity in supporting the university’s educational endeavors. Dr. Khattak encouraged students to utilize this valuable resource to better understand Japanese culture, politics, economy, security, philosophy, art, and heritage, ultimately fostering stronger ties between Pakistan and Japan.
The donated books are part of the “Read Japan Project,” an initiative launched by the Nippon Foundation to improve global understanding of Japan through carefully selected literature. All 166 books provided in English cover diverse subjects such as Japan’s political structure, economy, cultural heritage, philosophy, arts, and national security. Each year, international libraries are chosen by the foundation to receive books, thus empowering students and researchers with materials essential for comprehensive study about Japan.
