A high-level Japanese trade delegation visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry where FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh held discussions on expanding Japan Pakistan trade and investment links. The meeting brought together business leaders from sectors including automotive, minerals and jewellery alongside Pakistani trade representatives.
Member of the National Assembly and PML-N leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti joined the session and underlined the strong goodwill between the peoples of Pakistan and Japan and the government’s commitment to boost bilateral commerce. Participants noted significant opportunities across multiple sectors for enhanced trade relations.
The Japanese delegation included Hokkaido assembly member Yuji Kobashi and executives from companies such as Suzuki and firms in minerals and jewellery. Mr Kobashi highlighted that both Japan and Pakistan are among the world’s most populous nations and stressed the potential for Pakistan’s large youth population to acquire skills and secure jobs in Japan.
President Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasised that thousands of skilled Pakistani workers are already contributing in Japan and urged the business communities of both countries to take advantage of these openings. He assured visiting investors that FPCCI and local partners will facilitate Japanese companies interested in Pakistan and provide necessary support to ensure smooth investment processes.
Discussions also covered initiatives for skills and technology transfer, with Japanese hosts expressing a desire to see Pakistani youth receive training in Japan and return to apply their expertise at home. Both sides agreed that closer cooperation between industry and government can turn these prospects into concrete projects that strengthen Japan Pakistan trade.
Delegation leaders and Pakistani officials concluded the meeting optimistic about expanding commercial ties, with commitments to follow up on investment proposals and explore joint ventures that can benefit businesses and workers in both countries.
