Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has successfully completed the Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) works on the main runway of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, achieving this significant milestone a month earlier than planned. This accomplishment represents a major step forward in the ongoing efforts to upgrade the airport’s facilities.
The main runway, designated 07L/25R, underwent PQC development using advanced slipform paving technology. The entire process operated continuously, with teams working around the clock to ensure precise coordination and execution. This efficient approach allowed the project to advance swiftly, setting a high standard for future phases of the airport’s modernization.
In parallel with the runway work, installation of a new Airfield Lighting (AFL) system is also underway. Imported lighting fixtures, cables, and guidance signs have already been delivered to the site and are currently being fitted to enhance runway visibility and safety for both pilots and ground staff.
As the project moves into its final stages, crews are now focusing on completing the runway centerline painting and marking the taxiways. These finishing touches will ensure the runway meets international safety and operational standards.
The PAA’s early completion of the PQC phase strengthens the foundation for further improving Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure and demonstrates the organization’s commitment to engineering excellence and modernization.
