A five-day training on judicial mediation for judicial officers of Balochistan has commenced at the Sindh Judicial Academy under the EU-funded Deliver Justice Project implemented by UNODC in collaboration with the Balochistan High Court. The programme brings together judges from across the province to focus on practical approaches to mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
The training is designed to strengthen judges’ practical skills in mediation, equipping participants with tools to manage disputes more efficiently and to apply ADR techniques within the court context. Emphasis is on enhancing the ability of judicial officers to resolve cases through dialogue and negotiated outcomes where appropriate.
Organisers say the Judicial Mediation initiative aims to promote a more citizen-centered justice delivery model in Balochistan, reducing delays and improving access to timely resolutions. The collaboration between UNODC, the European Union and the Balochistan High Court underscores a shared commitment to judicial reform and greater responsiveness to public needs.
Participants will apply learned mediation principles to courtroom practice, with a view to mainstreaming ADR methods and strengthening public confidence in provincial justice systems. The five-day programme marks a coordinated effort to build practical capacity among judicial officers and to support ongoing improvements in case management across Balochistan.
