CPDI, in partnership with SEWA Development Trust – Sindh and with support from The Asia Foundation, organized two significant initiatives at the Shaaf Institute Of Medical And Modern Sciences (SIMMS) in Larkana, aiming to strengthen community engagement and enhance awareness of legal rights, particularly concerning issues of violence against women.
The first event—an Innovative Community Learning Platform—featured a session led by Mr. Muhammad Yaseen, Project Focal Person. Community members actively discussed the underlying causes of Violence Against Women (VAW), shared strategies for prevention, and learned about referral mechanisms for reporting incidents and accessing redressal services. The interactive forum encouraged open dialogue, equipping participants with practical knowledge to address and prevent VAW in their communities.
Complementing this was a Mobile Legal Awareness Camp, where legal advocates Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Shaikh, Mr. Junaid Ahmed Shaikh, and Ms. Sobiha Naz offered free legal consultations. The camp was particularly focused on women, providing tailored advice to empower them with a stronger understanding of their legal rights and the resources available to address challenges they may face.
These initiatives form part of the broader Justice Sector Support Program, reflecting a collaborative effort to foster a more informed and empowered community, equipped to navigate legal challenges and advocate for justice.
