**Senate Chairman Gillani Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Kashmiris on Accession to Pakistan Day**

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), marking the annual Accession to Pakistan Day. He emphasized that decades of Indian state-sponsored violence have failed to weaken the resolve of Kashmiris in their pursuit of self-determination.

In a statement released by the Senate Secretariat, Chairman Gillani expressed strong solidarity with the Kashmiri population, highlighting the significance of Accession to Pakistan Day. The day commemorates the historic decision made by the Kashmiri people in 1947 to accede to Pakistan, underscoring their enduring political will and emotional connection with the country.

Chairman Gillani described the 19th of July as a “reminder of the historic and brave decision of the Kashmiri people to join Pakistan,” stating that the relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir “is not merely based on geography but is rooted in the hearts of the people.”

He strongly condemned the ongoing Indian occupation and the continuing violations of fundamental rights in IIOJK, noting that even after generations, the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination remains resolute and peaceful. Gillani emphasized that the third generation of Kashmiris is still steadfast in its demands.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, Chairman Senate vowed that the country would persist in providing its full diplomatic, moral, and political support to Kashmiris in their quest for legitimate rights.

He also called on the international community—including global powers and human rights organizations—to play a proactive role in ensuring that the Kashmiri people are granted their right to self-determination in line with relevant United Nations resolutions.
