Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Highlights SCO’s Role in Regional Cooperation at Ministerial Council Meeting

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, participated in the latest convening of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States, where high-level discussions focused on enhancing diplomatic coordination and preparing for the next SCO Summit of Heads of State in Tianjin.

During the session, representatives from member countries exchanged views on strengthening foreign policy collaboration in response to current international developments. The meeting also reviewed the ongoing progress in organizing the anticipated SCO summit, scheduled to be held in Tianjin.

In his address, Minister Nurtleu expressed strong confidence in the SCO’s capacity to forge mutually beneficial partnerships that foster sustainable development and transform the organization’s geographical expanse into a zone of peace and prosperity. “I am convinced that the SCO will continue to strengthen its international authority and effectiveness as a multilateral institution with a unique model of equal cooperation based on the principles of the ‘Shanghai Spirit’,” Nurtleu stated.

The Kazakh foreign minister praised China for its systematic efforts in implementing the agreements reached at the Astana SCO Summit. He further underscored the necessity of sustained and consistent advancement in developing the organization’s institutional capacity and enhancing its activities.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of SCO members to deepening cooperation and strengthening the organization’s role in ensuring regional stability and advancing common interests.
