Kazakhstan and China Strengthen Ties at SCO Summit

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and has held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. During their meeting, Tokayev expressed appreciation for the invitation and thanked Xi for the warm welcome in the historic city.

President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s strong support for China’s leadership of the SCO and emphasized the country’s active involvement in advancing the organization’s broad agenda. He also congratulated China on the 80th anniversary of both the Victory in World War II and the defeat of Japanese militarism, noting the courage and sacrifices made by the Chinese people during that period.

Highlighting the growing relationship between the two countries, Tokayev praised the progress of the Kazakh-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership. He noted that with the backing of President Xi, bilateral ties have reached unprecedented heights. Trade relations between Kazakhstan and China have seen remarkable growth, reaching a record trade turnover of 44 billion US dollars last year.
