Kazakhstan and Pakistan have affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and interfaith dialogue ahead of the upcoming VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to be held in Astana.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, recently met with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute and a member of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. In their discussions, both sides reviewed preparations for the significant international congress aimed at fostering interreligious harmony and collaboration, noting the importance of such forums in promoting global peace.
During their meeting, Professor Zia-ul-Haq confirmed Pakistan’s official participation, indicating that the delegation would be led by H.E. Mr. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. This high-level participation underscores Pakistan’s strong commitment to interfaith dialogue, mutual understanding, and global cooperation.
Furthermore, the meeting also provided an opportunity for exploring possibilities to enhance academic collaboration between Kazakhstani and Pakistani universities and research institutes. Both sides recognized the mutual benefits of academic partnerships, agreeing to undertake a series of joint projects by the end of this year. These collaborative initiatives aim to strengthen educational ties, facilitate knowledge exchange, and further deepen diplomatic and cultural understanding between the two countries.
