Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to reaffirm both countries’ commitment to deepening political, economic and regional cooperation. The leaders discussed ways to expand diplomatic engagement, boost trade and investment ties, and pursue joint initiatives on bilateral and multilateral platforms.
Nurtleu outlined Kazakhstan’s recent political and socio-economic reforms and briefed Sharif on the content of the country’s recent State-of-the-Nation address. He stressed that systematic engagement with Islamabad remains a priority for Astana and expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to support mutually beneficial projects at bilateral and regional levels.
Both officials acknowledged the long-standing nature of their relationship, noting more than three decades of diplomatic ties built on mutual trust, openness and strong humanitarian links. They agreed to maintain high-level political dialogue and to intensify cooperation across trade, economic and investment sectors.
Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s interest in further strengthening ties with Central Asian states, particularly Kazakhstan, and welcomed expanded collaboration. The two sides also committed to reinforcing the regional architecture of relations to facilitate deeper economic integration and joint initiatives.
At the close of the meeting, both leaders praised the current state of Kazakh-Pakistani relations and expressed readiness to pursue concrete steps for their further development.
