Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, visited the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Headquarters in China as part of his participation in the Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting for SCO member states. During the visit, Nurtleu held talks with SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and key staff members to discuss the organization’s ongoing activities and preparations for upcoming major events.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on the SCO’s current agenda and logistical planning for future high-level gatherings, most notably the SCO Summit of Heads of State, which is set to take place in China in September 2025.
Minister Nurtleu highlighted the critical role played by the SCO Secretariat in promoting comprehensive cooperation among member states and ensuring effective coordination of the organization’s work. He praised the Secretariat staff for their continued efforts to improve the efficiency of the SCO’s operational mechanisms and organizational bodies, underscoring Kazakhstan’s commitment to supporting the organization’s goals and future initiatives.
