On 1 February 2026 the 2nd Rapid Open Chess Tournament organized by Knights Chess Academy took place at Shahbaz Sharif Sports Complex in Rawalpindi, bringing a lively display of Rapid Chess to local fans and players.
More than 30 competitors from various cities participated, with ages ranging from 9 years to 70+, creating a diverse field that tested experience against emerging talent. The presence of national-level players raised the standard of play and provided valuable lessons for younger participants eager to improve in Rapid Chess events.
Organizers provided hospitality on site and served a traditional Chicken Biryani for lunch, reinforcing the community atmosphere that accompanied the competitive chess on the boards. Players and spectators appreciated the blend of strong competition and local hospitality.
The tournament concluded with cash prizes awarded to the top three finishers. The prizes were presented by Mr. Yasir Hussain, CEO of Knights Chess Academy, alongside National Master Mr. Liaqat Ali, marking a successful second edition that highlights growing interest in Rapid Chess across the city and surrounding regions.
