The fast-growing sport of padel has drawn considerable attention at the 35th National Games in Karachi, where spectators praised the pace and skill on display and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s contingent showed clear determination to make an impact at the national level.
Chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Padel Association, Sarfaraz Khan, said KP padel has a promising future despite being a recent addition to Pakistan’s sporting scene. He pointed out that the sport is rapidly winning over young players because of its fast tempo, skill-based rallies and modern techniques that suit youth development.
Sarfaraz Khan outlined concrete steps to grow the sport from the grassroots, announcing that padel academies will be established soon in Peshawar and across several districts. These academies are intended to provide structured coaching so young athletes can progress to national and international competition with sound training and support.
He stressed that the Pakistan Padel Federation’s backing will be instrumental in expanding KP padel, helping the province build a distinct identity in the sport. Speaking about the current squad, he highlighted that Muhammad Noman and Kamran Khan are fully prepared to compete at the highest level and carry the province’s medal hopes.
Reflecting the Association’s confidence, Sarfaraz Khan said, “Our players will enter the court with full dedication and commitment. God willing, they will win medals for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” The inclusion of padel at the National Games is expected to open fresh opportunities and accelerate the sport’s positive impact on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s sporting landscape in the coming years.
