The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has finalised the first phase of a livestock empowerment project across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, delivering practical livelihood support to vulnerable households in remote districts.
Under this phase, 1,000 beneficiary households in Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, Lower Dir and Upper Dir received a livelihood package comprising two vaccinated goats per family, four bags of silage and hands-on training provided by the Livestock Department to promote sustainable livestock income generation. In total, the intervention reached 7,250 individuals who stand to benefit from improved household nutrition and earnings.
The initiative was implemented by Peach and Development Organization in collaboration with the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department and PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. KSrelief emphasised that livestock empowerment at the household level is central to strengthening local economic resilience and food security in these mountainous areas.
Plans are already underway for Phase 2 and Phase 3, which will expand support to other districts. Families in Swat, Swabi, Haripur and Mansehra are slated to receive poultry packages with 25 birds per household, a complete poultry kit and training on poultry management and income generation. Meanwhile households in Charsadda, Mardan and Nowshera will be assisted with cattle, additional silage supplies and practical training in animal care and dairy production.
By combining animal provision, feed and technical training, the programme aims to foster self-reliance, improved nutrition and longer-term economic stability for vulnerable communities across the province, reinforcing KSrelief’s continued commitment to livelihood-focused humanitarian support in Pakistan.
