Punjab Assembly ordered to disclose details about MPAs

The order comes after the government made public the details of foreign gifts retained by public office holders from 2002 to 2022. Justice Asim Hafeez issued the orders in response to a petition filed by Munir Ahmad through Advocate Azhar Siddique,

who requested the government to disclose the complete details of Toshakhana gifts received by political rulers and bureaucrats since the country’s creation.

The judge also stated that transparency should be maintained and nothing should be hidden. The Toshakhana department, which is under the administrative control of the Cabinet Division, stores precious gifts given to rulers, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and officials by heads of other governments, states, and foreign dignitaries.

The petitioner contended that people at large were entitled to know details of every public transaction and acquire information in all matters of public importance
