Ambassador Khalil Hashmi’s recent visit to the Lanzhou New Area highlighted the significant economic growth and industrial expertise emerging from this rapidly developing region. The area, which now covers over 50 square kilometers, contributes 30 percent of Lanzhou city’s GDP and hosts enterprises leading innovation in various fields.
During his tour, Ambassador Hashmi observed the activities of several key companies based in Lanzhou New Area. Notably, he visited LS Group, renowned for manufacturing China’s first oil drilling rig, underlining the region’s advancements in heavy industry and technology. Additionally, the ambassador toured the Lanzhou New Area Flower Base, a hub that stands out for its impressive economies of scale in agriculture and horticulture. He also met with representatives of Legend Group, a major player in the dairy sector with a broad portfolio of products, reflecting the area’s diversification across industries.
The ambassador described the visit as highly productive, noting the wide range of expertise among the thousands of professionals working in the area. Inspired by the region’s development and innovation, he indicated plans to pursue new avenues of cooperation, aiming to deepen economic and industrial ties based on the insights and opportunities gained from his trip.
