**Pakistani Law Minister Stresses Neutrality of Bar Associations, Addresses Key Legal Sector Issues**
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar emphasized the importance of maintaining the institutional independence and neutrality of the judiciary and legal community, urging that bar politics be restricted strictly within bar associations. His remarks came during a meeting with delegations from the Multan High Court Bar Association and other bar associations from South Punjab.
During the meeting, the participants held a detailed discussion on the welfare of lawyers, the challenges faced by bar associations, and strategies for effective resolution of these issues. The President of the Multan High Court Bar Association expressed gratitude to the government for its initiatives supporting the legal fraternity and praised the Ministry of Law for its constructive role.
Senator Tarar reiterated that the role of bar politics should not extend beyond the confines of bar associations, as this is essential for preserving the impartial and autonomous nature of both the judiciary and the legal profession. He assured participants that the Ministry of Law prioritizes the welfare of lawyers and remains committed to providing full support in addressing their legitimate concerns.
Highlighting recent progress, the Law Minister announced that the longstanding issue of court fees has been resolved following the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He also noted that initiatives such as the establishment of e-libraries and the implementation of solarization projects for bar associations are ongoing with the cooperation of the Punjab government.
The meeting was attended by presidents and representatives from bar associations across Shujabad, Jahanian, Lodhran, Dunyapur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Alipur, Jatoi, Jalalpur, Kabirwala, and Burewala. These leaders raised region-specific challenges faced by legal professionals in their areas.
Senator Tarar assured all representatives that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis, and pledged to further strengthen communication and cooperation between the Ministry of Law and bar associations throughout the region.
