Danyal Chaudhry opens Liaquat Bagh upgrades in Rawalpindi, unveiling an athletes' hostel and women's gym and pledging firm action against terrorism.

Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, inaugurated major Liaquat Bagh upgrades in Rawalpindi today, underlining a commitment to youth development and community sports. The ceremony drew Provincial Minister for Sports & Culture Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, members of the provincial assembly, the Deputy Commissioner, prominent sports personalities, athletes and sports department officials.

The project introduces the complex’s first dedicated athletes’ hostel, a development designed to enable hosting of national and international teams and to provide residential support for training camps. On the special directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a separate women’s gymnasium has been established to promote inclusive participation and to encourage more women athletes from Rawalpindi and surrounding districts.

Speaking at the inauguration, Barrister Chaudhry framed the Liaquat Bagh upgrades as part of a broader drive to create opportunities for healthy activity and to nurture athletic talent. He said these facilities reflect the government’s priority of investing in young people and local sports infrastructure.

Reflecting on the nation’s recent trajectory, the Parliamentary Secretary credited efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir for restoring Pakistan’s standing abroad after difficult times. He also addressed security concerns directly, affirming that Pakistan will not tolerate terrorism and that all threats will be confronted decisively in honor of the sacrifices made by security forces.

The new amenities at Liaquat Bagh, including the athletes’ hostel and the women’s gym, are expected to boost training opportunities and regional sporting events while reinforcing the government’s stance on security and social inclusion. The Liaquat Bagh upgrades aim to deliver practical support to athletes and to strengthen Rawalpindi’s role as a centre for competitive sport in Punjab.
