The funeral prayer for Major Adnan Aslam was held in Chaklala, Rawalpindi. Major Aslam, a resident of Rawalpindi, had been severely wounded during an operation in Bannu against militants who, according to the military, were acting on an external agenda. He later died while receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Defense and Information ministers, Army Chief Syed Asim Munir, and other senior military and civilian officials attended the funeral, alongside members of the officer’s family. Speakers at the ceremony paid tribute to Major Aslam’s courage and leadership, saying he led his team from the front and successfully foiled the attackers’ objectives.
The prime minister lauded Major Aslam’s bravery and sacrifice, describing him as a fearless son of the nation whose courage and commitment will remain in the public memory. Military officials said his death reaffirms the armed forces’ resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country.
Major Aslam will be buried in his native area with full military honours. Tributes from officials and colleagues emphasized his example of patriotism, resolve, and leadership.
