Elections for the Malakand Division Swimming Association concluded in Mingora with a unanimous selection of new office-bearers aimed at boosting Malakand Swimming and developing local talent.
Nasir Hussain was elected President while Sabir Khan was chosen as Secretary General and Umar Hayat as Finance Secretary, forming the core leadership team tasked with expanding swimming activities across the division.
The electoral process was overseen by Javed Marwat, Secretary General of the Provincial Swimming Association, who served as Election Commissioner. Asad Khan and table tennis coach Yasir Aziz acted as committee members during the proceedings, and the session in Mingora drew Regional Sports Officer Malakand Muhammad Tariq, Peshawar Division Swimming Association President Arshad Orakzai, Secretary General Mubeen Khalil and representatives from Swat, Dir, Bajaur, Chitral and adjoining districts.
The newly elected cabinet also includes Ikram Hussain and Bushra Bibi as Senior Vice Presidents, Hussain Sardar as Vice President, Afroza Bibi as Information Secretary and Ghazala Naeem as Joint Secretary, with Hanifa Azeem Khan and Waheed Gul named to the Executive Committee to support program implementation at the divisional level.
The elections were conducted under the directives of Provincial Swimming Association President Captain (R) Khalid Mahmood as part of a province-wide initiative to establish and strengthen divisional associations, providing an organisational framework for talent identification and coaching across regions.
Following the vote, President Nasir Hussain and Secretary General Sabir Khan pledged to prioritise swimmer development, organise local competitions and work with provincial authorities to identify and nurture promising athletes, while expressing gratitude to Captain (R) Khalid Mahmood for taking concrete steps to promote swimming throughout the province.
