Maldives parliamentary delegation meets Pakistani leaders in Islamabad to explore trade, tourism, fisheries and infrastructure collaboration.

A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Maldives led by Speaker H.E. Abdul Raheem Abdullah and Dr. Shaista Khan Jadoon MNA visited the FPCCI President Secretariat in Islamabad to discuss enhanced cooperation across multiple sectors. The visit by the Maldives parliamentary delegation brought together policymakers and business leaders to examine concrete avenues for partnership between the two countries.

Delegates explored trade and investment opportunities that could deepen economic ties, with particular attention to tourism collaboration that leverages both nations’ strengths. Infrastructure development and fisheries and marine resources were discussed as priority areas where shared expertise and investment could yield mutual benefits for Pakistan and the Maldives.

The meeting was attended by noted representatives of the Pakistani business community including Vice President FPCCI Tariq Khan Jadoon, Acting President RCSTSI Dost Ali Jan, Vice President RCSTSI Asif Javed, as well as presidents of other chambers and members of the private sector. Participants emphasized the role of business diplomacy in turning discussions into actionable projects that support jobs and trade links across the region.

Beyond sectoral cooperation, the delegation highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections to sustain long-term relations. Strengthening ties through parliamentary engagement and business exchanges underscores the potential for growth and collaboration between Pakistan and the Maldives.
