NUST’s US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCASE) has marked Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day by showcasing innovative solutions aimed at addressing the country’s pressing water and energy challenges. The celebration not only honored the nation’s past and unity but also demonstrated a commitment to a sustainable future through technological advancement.

At a recent exhibition, the USPCASE team presented two breakthrough products: DewDrop and Solar On-the-Go. These innovations were developed to provide practical, sustainable responses to the critical needs of communities lacking reliable access to clean water and electricity.

DewDrop is a solar-powered atmospheric water generator designed to extract potable water from air humidity. This device offers a lifeline in areas where conventional water supply systems are difficult to maintain, including remote regions, disaster-affected zones, army forward posts, and coastal communities.

Solar On-the-Go is a portable solar energy unit that supplies off-grid electricity to power communication devices, provide lighting, and support field operations. Its durable and compact build makes it especially suitable for military camps, emergency response teams, and locations with challenging terrain where consistent power supply is vital.

The innovations are led by Dr. Nadia Shahzad, founder and associate professor at USPCASE NUST, and Dr. Adeel Waqas, principal at USPCASE NUST, and supported by their team members Syed Shabbir Ahmed, Ranjeet Kumar, Zaheer Ahmed, and Hina Pervaiz. The team expressed gratitude to RIC NUST, DG Projects NUST, and USPCASE for the opportunity to present their work and acknowledged the enthusiastic response from industry partners and potential investors. The team looks forward to forming collaborations that will enable further development and deployment of these technologies, strengthening Pakistan’s resilience and sustainable growth.
